Used Vehicle Inspections in Zambia (CBCA)
Bureau Veritas has been appointed by the Ministry of Industry & Commerce Zimbabwe for the provision of the Consignment Based Conformity Assessment (CBCA) program applicable to some categories of used vehicles imported into Zimbabwe from the 1st of June 2022.
The objective of this program is to:
• Protect consumers against dangerous, substandard vehicles
• Improve quality of products through compliance with applicable standards and regulations
• Facilitate trade operations by recognizing existing conformity proof to avoid unnecessary checking
• Ensure swift clearance with customs
Exporter Request Process for CBCA Certification
To initiate the Consignment Based Conformity Assessment (CBCA) certification process for used vehicles imported, please provide the following information and documentation via email to memory.makombo@bureauveritas.com and GS_Inspection_Requests@bureauveritas.com:
- Invoice of the vehicle and Bill of Lading
- Fully completed Request for Certificate (RFC) form (ensure it is signed by the paying party)
Copy of the latest roadworthiness certificate or MOT report (if available)
- Please note that shipments arriving without the required CBCA certificate of conformity will be subject to penalties. It is strongly recommended to comply with the program requirements to avoid rejection, delays, and additional costs upon arrival in Zimbabwe.
